CBSE Re-Evaluation After OSM — Scanned Copy to Result 2027

CBSE re-evaluation after OSM: scanned copy, verification and re-evaluation steps, 2026 fees, timeline, refund rule and a checking list.

In short: After On-Screen Marking, CBSE's 2026 post-result process had three stages: (1) get a scanned copy of your answer book for Rs 100 per subject, (2) apply for verification of issues observed (Rs 100) and/or re-evaluation (Rs 25 per question), and (3) get the outcome, with revised marks on DigiLocker and a fee refund if marks increase. In 2026 the scanned-copy window ran May 19 to 25 and the re-evaluation window June 2 to 7. CBSE will announce the 2027 dates and fees with the results, so treat the numbers here as the 2026 baseline, not a promise.

Last updated: October 28, 2026. Figures come from the cited news reports and may change as CBSE publishes more information.

CBSE changed the fees and the sequence in 2026 after the OSM controversy. The 2027 window and fees must be confirmed from CBSE's result-day notice. We will update this guide when the 2027 notice is out. Our older guide on CBSE revaluation was written before these changes were reflected, so use the figures here for OSM-era fees.

The Process in Three Stages

Stage 1: Get Your Scanned Copy

Under OSM your answer book is already digitised, so CBSE offers the scanned images instead of a physical photocopy.

Detail2026 figure
FeeRs 100 per subject (cut from Rs 700)
WindowMay 19 to 25, 2026 (extended from an earlier May 22 deadline)

The portal faced heavy traffic and payment failures in 2026. Do not wait for the last day.

Stage 2: Verification of Issues Observed and/or Re-Evaluation

After you review your scanned copy, you can apply for one or both of these.

ServiceWhat it covers2026 fee
Verification of issues observedProblems such as an unmarked answer, a missing map or graph, or mismatch in the answer bookRs 100 per answer book (cut from Rs 500)
Re-evaluationA fresh evaluation of specific answers you challengeRs 25 per question (cut from Rs 100)

The 2026 window for this stage was June 2 to 7. CBSE said each answer book undergoing re-evaluation was checked by two evaluators, and that applications were examined on merit (The Hindu).

Stage 3: Outcome

ItemWhat happened in 2026
First resultsJune 21, 2026, for about 1.39 lakh of more than 1.6 lakh applicants
CompletionCBSE later said it had declared outcomes in over 99.7% of applications (Times of India)
Where to see itCBSE portal and DigiLocker
Fee refundRefunded to the source account if marks increase
If "no change" on verificationStudents could inspect their answer book at the concerned CBSE Regional Office

CBSE did not say whether physical marksheets with revised marks would be issued at the time of the announcement. Revised marksheets appeared on DigiLocker.

Scanned copy for 2 subjects2 × Rs 100Rs 200
Verification for 1 subjectRs 100Rs 100

What to Check in Your Scanned Copy

Work through this list with a pen and the marking scheme.

CheckWhat you are looking for

Maps and graphsAre they present and visible?
LegibilityIs every page readable at normal zoom, or is any page blurred?
Marks per questionAre marks entered for every question you attempted?

What Re-Evaluation Delivered in 2026

CBSE has not published how many students saw marks rise or by how much. Individual reports varied: The Hindu cited a Physics rise from 71 to 90 and a History rise from 74 to 97 in one school's students, while a Delhi student with a swapped Physics script reported a two-mark increase in total and no change in Physics. The honest reading is that outcomes varied and that evidence was needed, which is why checking your own copy first is the right order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the 2027 fees?

Not announced yet. In 2026 they were Rs 100 for a scanned copy, Rs 100 for verification and Rs 25 per question for re-evaluation. Confirm on CBSE's result notice.

Can I apply for re-evaluation without the scanned copy?

In the 2026 process, students were told to obtain scanned copies first and then apply. Follow the order in the 2027 notice.

Can my marks go down?

We could not find a clear official statement on this in the 2026 sources we reviewed. Read the 2027 notice carefully before applying.

Does re-evaluation cover practical marks?

Practical and internal marks are awarded by your school. The post-result process covers the theory answer book.

Will colleges wait for my revised marks?

Many do not. In 2026, a West Bengal teacher said most students had finished college admissions on old marks before revised results came. If you have a tight admission deadline, ask the college about their policy early.

How is this different from the older revaluation process?

Fees are lower, the scanned copy replaces a physical photocopy and a fee refund applies if marks rise. For a broader view across boards, see our recheck and revaluation guide.

The Bottom Line

The process is now cheaper and more evidence-driven. Get the scanned copy, compare it carefully with the marking scheme and apply only where you can point to a specific problem. If you need a plan for what to do if marks are lower than expected, read our recovery plan.
