In short: UP Board Intermediate exams run from February 5 to February 24, 2027, with around 24 lakh students registered. Hindi / General Hindi is the first paper for every stream. UP Board has announced a more application-heavy question design for Classes 11-12 (about 35% application and 22% analysis questions, with fewer optional questions), so the last 30 days (January 6 to February 4) should combine NCERT concept revision with full timed papers, not just memorised answers.
Class 12 is harder to plan than Class 10 because every stream has a different exam sequence and the gaps between papers are uneven. A Science student may get eight free days before Maths and zero days between English and Chemistry. If you do not plan for that, the gaps decide your marks instead of you.
This guide gives a 30-day plan for each stream, then shows how to use the gap days during the exam itself.

What Is Changing in the Question Paper
UP Board has announced a new design for Class 11-12 papers that assesses students on six levels:
| Level | Approximate weightage |
|---|---|
| Knowledge | 17.5% |
| Comprehension | 17.5% |
| Application | 35% |
| Analysis | 22% |
| Evaluation | 4% |
| Creation | 4% |
The board has also reported a move towards an 80-mark written paper with 20 marks for internal or practical assessment, fewer optional questions, and questions from every unit rather than selected chapters.
What this means for you: Skipping whole chapters is riskier than before, and memorised answers alone will not carry you. Reports differ on exactly which changes apply to the February 2027 paper, so download the latest UPMSP model paper for each of your subjects and practise on that format. Our UP Board Class 12 model paper guide lists where to find them.
The 30-Day Structure (January 6 – February 4)
| Phase | Days | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Days 1-12 (Jan 6-17) | Revise every unit once, focus on weak chapters |
| Phase 2 | Days 13-24 (Jan 18-29) | Full timed papers, 2 per subject, plus error review |
| Phase 3 | Days 25-30 (Jan 30 – Feb 4) | Hindi priority + formula/diagram/keyword revision |
Practical exams usually happen before the theory window. Keep those days free in your plan and do not let them push out revision of other subjects.

How to Use Gap Days During the Exam
The gap between two papers is your last revision window for the next subject. Use this rule:
| Gap before next paper | What to do |
|---|---|
| 0 days (next morning) | Only revise formula sheet, key diagrams and your mistake list. Sleep on time. |
| 1 day | Morning: full chapter-wise revision of weak units. Evening: formula sheet. |
| 2-3 days | Day 1: weak units. Day 2: one full timed paper. Day 3 (if available): light revision. |
| 4+ days | Revise all units once, two timed papers, then rest the evening before. |
Check your own subject dates on upmsp.edu.in. For example, many Science students get a long gap after Hindi before Maths, and then back-to-back days later. Prepare your back-to-back subjects before the exam window starts. Our UP Board date sheet planning guide has a gap analysis by stream.
Hindi: Do Not Underestimate the First Paper
Every stream starts with Hindi on February 5. A good Hindi paper builds confidence for the rest of the exam; a bad one follows you into the next week.
- Prepare 4-5 kavi and 4-5 lekhak parichay with rachnayein
- Practise sandarbh-prasang-vyakhya in the full format
- Revise sandhi, samas, alankar, ras, chhand with examples
- Keep outlines ready for 5-6 nibandh topics
Our UP Board Class 12 Hindi guide covers this in detail.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 30 days enough to score 75%+ in UP Board Class 12?
For most students who have studied through the year, yes. The last 30 days are about converting what you know into marks through revision and timed practice. If large parts of the syllabus are untouched, focus on high-weightage units and aim to pass comfortably first.
Has the UP Board Class 12 paper pattern changed for 2027?
UP Board has announced a new design focused on application and analysis, with fewer optional questions and coverage of every unit. Reports also mention an 80-mark written paper with 20 internal marks. Confirm the exact format for your subject with the latest UPMSP model paper before your final practice papers.
How should I revise if I have zero days between two papers?
Prepare both subjects before the exam window starts. On the evening between them, only revise the second subject's formula sheet, diagrams and your mistake list. Do not start new topics.
Should Science students focus on NCERT or reference books?
NCERT first. UP Board Class 12 follows NCERT. Reference books are useful for extra numericals once NCERT exercises and examples are done.
How do I balance practicals with theory revision?
Practicals come before theory exams. Keep your practical file complete, revise the experiments 2-3 days before, and continue theory revision on other days. Do not stop theory work for a whole week.
What if I fail one subject?
UP Board conducts a compartment (supplementary) exam later in the year. You can clear the subject and continue to college normally. See our compartment exam guide.
