In short: Nobody can name the exact questions in the CBSE Class 12 Accountancy paper, so this list ranks 25 question types by evidence: the 2026-27 paper design (34 questions, 80 marks), what the February 24, 2026 paper actually asked, and topics teachers report every year. Partnership Firms carry 36 marks, Companies 24, Analysis of Financial Statements 12 and Cash Flow 8. Each question below shows its marks, the answer format examiners expect, and how strong the evidence is. Treat it as a practice priority list, not a leak.

How This List Was Built
| Evidence level | What it means | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 paper | The question type was reported in the February 24, 2026 paper | Times Now expert-solved Set 3 paper and Times Now expert analysis |
| Recurring | Teachers name the topic as a yearly feature | Times of India final-revision article |
| Syllabus | The topic is in the 2026-27 syllabus and fits the paper design | CBSE syllabus coverage |
Question numbers in the 2026 paper differ by set. The numbers quoted below come from Set 3, except the Cash Flow question, which a Times Now report places at Q34 in Set 67/5/1.
Part A: Partnership Firms (36 Marks)
| # | Expected question | Marks | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Journal entry for interest on drawings. Name the account debited and credited | 1 | 2026 paper (Set 3, Q1) |
| 2 | Find the sacrificing ratio or gaining ratio from the old and new ratios | 1 | Syllabus |
| 3 | Value goodwill by average profit, super profit or capitalisation | 1 | Syllabus |
| 4 | Pass journal entries on the death of a partner: general reserve, accumulated loss, and the deceased partner's share of profit up to the date of death | 3 | 2026 paper (Set 3, Q17) |
| 5 | Pass journal entries on retirement: goodwill through gaining partners, general reserve, revaluation loss, and transfer of the balance to the retiring partner's loan account | 3 | 2026 paper (Set 3, Q18) |
| 6 | Pass the adjusting entry for a past adjustment, such as interest on capital or a profit ratio that was ignored | 3 to 4 | Syllabus |
| 7 | Prepare the Profit and Loss Appropriation Account with a guarantee of profit to a partner | 4 | Syllabus |
| 8 | Admission of a partner: Revaluation Account, Partners' Capital Accounts and Balance Sheet | 6 | Recurring, 2026 paper |
| 9 | Retirement or death of a partner: capital accounts, loan or executor's account | 6 | Recurring |
| 10 | Change in profit sharing ratio among existing partners: revaluation, reserves and goodwill | 6 | 2026 paper (choice) |
| 11 | Dissolution of a firm: Realisation Account, Partners' Capital Accounts and Bank Account | 6 | 2026 paper (choice) |
What the evidence says
- Questions 4 and 5: In Set 3, the death-of-partner question needed three entries. General reserve went to the old partners, the accumulated loss went to the old partners, and the deceased partner's profit share up to the date of death went through the Profit and Loss Suspense Account. The retirement question needed four entries: goodwill adjusted through the gaining partners, general reserve, revaluation loss, and the balance transferred to a loan account.
- Questions 8 to 11: Times Now reports that faculty saw about half the 2026 paper deviate from the sample paper format. One teacher said the 6-mark internal choice moved from Admission versus Retirement in earlier years to Change in Profit Sharing Ratio versus Dissolution. Another said the Admission question had a slightly new adjustment format, but the entries stayed conventional. So prepare all four 6-mark partnership types. Do not skip one because it was "not asked last year".
Answer format
| Question | What to write |
|---|---|
| Sacrificing or gaining ratio | Sacrificing ratio is old share minus new share. Gaining ratio is new share minus old share. Show the subtraction partner by partner |
| Goodwill by capitalisation | Capitalised value is average profit multiplied by 100 and divided by the normal rate of return. Goodwill is capitalised value minus net assets. Example: average profit Rs 60,000 at 10% gives Rs 6,00,000. With net assets of Rs 5,00,000, goodwill is Rs 1,00,000 |
| Revaluation loss | Share it among all old partners, including a retiring partner, in the old ratio |
| Retiring partner's goodwill | Gaining partners' Capital Accounts are debited and the retiring partner's Capital Account is credited |
| Dissolution | Close assets and liabilities in the Realisation Account, share profit or loss in the profit sharing ratio, then settle the capital accounts through the Bank Account |
Times of India's final-revision article warns that students lose marks by skipping working notes or writing incomplete journal entries. Show every working note, even for 1-mark calculations.

Part A: Accounting for Companies (24 Marks)
| # | Expected question | Marks | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 | Forfeiture of shares MCQ: pick the correct amount treatment. The Set 3 answer key option reads "called-up amount on forfeited shares" | 1 | 2026 paper (Set 3, Q4) |
| 13 | Pro-rata allotment: shares allotted, excess application money and refund | 1 to 3 | Recurring |
| 14 | Journal entries for issue of shares at a premium, with application, allotment and calls | 3 to 4 | Recurring |
| 15 | Journal entries for forfeiture and reissue of shares, and the transfer to Capital Reserve | 4 | Recurring |
| 16 | Issue of shares with oversubscription, pro-rata allotment, calls in arrears and forfeiture | 6 | 2026 paper (choice) |
| 17 | Journal entries for issue of debentures at a premium or discount, and writing off the loss on issue | 3 to 4 | Recurring |
| 18 | Show share capital in the Notes to Accounts: authorised, subscribed, called-up and calls in arrears | 3 | Syllabus |
What the evidence says
Times of India lists share capital, forfeiture, reissue, securities premium and debentures among the topics that appear every year. Times Now's reports on the 2026 paper differ on the 6-mark share capital question. One faculty member said it was in MCQ format and easier. A student said the pro-rata version was tricky but he skipped it because it was an internal choice. So practise both the objective format and the full pro-rata problem.
I could not confirm from a readable source whether the 2026-27 syllabus keeps debenture redemption. Check the unit contents in the CBSE syllabus PDF before you spend time on redemption problems.
Answer format
| Question | What to write |
|---|---|
| Forfeiture | Debit Share Capital with the called-up amount. Credit Calls in Arrears for the unpaid part and Share Forfeiture Account for the amount received. Example: Rs 10 shares, Rs 8 called up, Rs 5 received on 100 shares gives Share Capital Dr Rs 800, Calls in Arrears Cr Rs 300, Share Forfeiture Cr Rs 500 |
| Reissue | Reissue at a discount cannot exceed the amount forfeited on those shares. Example: all 100 shares reissued at Rs 9 as fully paid: Bank Dr Rs 900, Share Forfeiture Dr Rs 100, Share Capital Cr Rs 1,000. The balance of Rs 400 goes to Capital Reserve |
| Pro-rata | Excess application money is adjusted against allotment. Example: Rs 3 application on 600 shares applied for, 500 allotted. Received Rs 1,800, required Rs 1,500, so Rs 300 adjusts against allotment |
| Journal entries | Write a narration for every entry. Times of India's final-revision article lists narration and checked calculations as the way to avoid avoidable losses here |
Part B: Analysis of Financial Statements (20 Marks)
This list covers the Analysis of Financial Statements option. If your school offers Computerised Accounting instead, ask your teacher for that practical syllabus.
| # | Expected question | Marks | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19 | Classify given items under the major heads and sub-heads of a company's Balance Sheet | 3 | Syllabus |
| 20 | Prepare a Comparative Statement or a Common-Size Statement of Profit and Loss | 3 to 4 | Syllabus |
| 21 | Compute liquidity ratios: current ratio and quick ratio | 1 to 4 | Recurring |
| 22 | Compute activity ratios: inventory turnover and trade receivables turnover | 1 to 4 | Recurring |
| 23 | Compute solvency or profitability ratios: debt-equity, proprietary, net profit and return on investment | 4 | Syllabus |
| 24 | Prepare a Cash Flow Statement from balance sheet data using the indirect method | 6 | 2026 paper (Q34, Set 67/5/1) |
| 25 | Classify transactions into operating, investing and financing activities | 1 to 3 | Recurring |
What the evidence says
Times Now reports that Part B was easy and scoring in the 2026 paper. Students from Shiv Nadar School said the language of the Cash Flow Statement question needed careful reading before they could interpret it. Times of India lists the common slips as dividends, tax adjustments and non-cash expenses, and names inventory turnover, quick ratio and trade receivables turnover as frequent ratio questions.
Answer format
| Question | What to write |
|---|---|
| Quick ratio | Quick assets divided by current liabilities. Quick assets are current assets minus inventories minus prepaid expenses |
| Inventory turnover | Cost of revenue from operations divided by average inventory. Show the average inventory working |
| Cash flow, operating | Start with net profit before tax. Add back non-cash and non-operating items such as depreciation. Adjust for working capital changes. Deduct tax paid |
| Cash flow, financing and investing | For a non-financial company, interest and dividend paid belong to financing. Interest and dividend received belong to investing |
Our ratio analysis and cash flow steps guide walks through these formats with worked layouts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these the exact questions that will come in the 2027 Accountancy board exam?
No. Nobody outside CBSE knows the 2027 questions. This list ranks question types by evidence: the paper design, what the 2026 paper asked, and topics teachers call yearly. Beware of any page or Telegram channel that promises the actual paper.
What is the paper design for CBSE Class 12 Accountancy 2027?
The 2026-27 sample paper design has 34 compulsory questions for 80 marks over 3 hours. Q1 to 16 and Q27 to 30 carry 1 mark, Q17 to 20 and Q31 to 32 carry 3 marks, Q21, Q22 and Q33 carry 4 marks, and Q23 to 26 and Q34 carry 6 marks. There is no overall choice, but 2 three-mark, 2 four-mark and 2 six-mark questions have internal choice.
How many marks does each unit carry?
Accounting for Partnership Firms carries 36 marks and Accounting for Companies carries 24, which makes Part A 60 marks. In Part B, Analysis of Financial Statements carries 12 and the Cash Flow Statement carries 8.
Which 6-mark partnership question should I prepare?
All of them. In 2026, teachers reported that the internal choice moved to Change in Profit Sharing Ratio versus Dissolution, where earlier years paired Admission with Retirement. Practise Admission, Retirement or Death, Change in Profit Sharing Ratio and Dissolution so a changed choice does not catch you out.
Was the 2026 Accountancy paper difficult?
Teachers and students quoted by Times Now rated it easy to moderate, with no out-of-syllabus questions. The tougher parts were 1-mark MCQs that needed long calculations and a Cash Flow question with careful wording. One teacher estimated about 30% of the paper tested higher-order thinking.
How do I avoid losing marks in journal entries?
Write every entry with its narration, show working notes for goodwill, ratios and capital adjustments, and check that totals tally. Times of India's final-revision article names skipped working notes and incomplete entries as common reasons students lose marks.
