The CBSE Class 10 Maths board exam 2027 follows the same pattern as recent years: 80 marks theory, 20 marks internal assessment. Knowing which questions are most likely to appear gives you a clear advantage.
This guide covers the most important questions from each chapter, organized by marks and frequency in past papers.
Exam Pattern Overview
- Section A: 20 MCQs (1 mark each) = 20 marks
- Section B: 5 questions (2 marks each) = 10 marks
- Section C: 6 questions (3 marks each) = 18 marks
- Section D: 4 questions (5 marks each) = 20 marks
- Section E: 3 case-based questions (4 marks each) = 12 marks
Chapter 1: Real Numbers
High-weightage topics: HCF and LCM using prime factorization, proof that root 2 is irrational.
- Find the HCF and LCM of 306 and 657 using the prime factorization method. (2 marks)
- Prove that the square root of 3 is irrational. (3 marks - asked almost every year)
- Explain why 7 x 11 x 13 + 13 is a composite number. (1 mark MCQ)
Chapter 2: Polynomials
High-weightage topics: Finding zeroes from graphs, relationship between zeroes and coefficients.
- Find the zeroes of 6x^2 - 3 - 7x and verify the relationship between zeroes and coefficients. (3 marks)
- If one zero of 2x^2 - 5x + k is reciprocal of the other, find k. (2 marks)
Chapter 3: Linear Equations in Two Variables
High-weightage topics: Graphical method, cross-multiplication method, word problems.
- Solve the pair of equations: 2x + 3y = 11 and 2x - 4y = -24. (3 marks)
- For what value of k does the pair kx + 3y = k-3 and 12x + ky = k have no solution? (2 marks)
Chapter 7: Coordinate Geometry
High-weightage topics: Distance formula, section formula, area of triangle.
- Find the distance between the points A(2, 3) and B(4, 1). (2 marks)
- Find the coordinates of the point which divides the join of (-1, 7) and (4, -3) in the ratio 2:3. (3 marks)
- Find the area of the triangle formed by points (2, 3), (4, 7), and (6, 2). (3 marks)
Chapter 13: Statistics
High-weightage topics: Mean (direct, assumed mean, step deviation), median from grouped data.
- Find the mean of the following frequency distribution using the step deviation method. (5 marks - very commonly asked)
- Find the median of the following distribution. (5 marks)
Scoring Strategy
- Attempt all MCQs first (20 marks in 15 minutes). These are free marks.
- Section B and C next (28 marks). Show all steps clearly.
- Section D last (20 marks). These take the most time.
- Never skip case-based questions (12 marks). They look long but are usually straightforward.
