The 15-Day Framework

PrincipleWhat It Means
No new chaptersIf you have not touched a chapter all year, skip it. Revise what you know.
High-yield firstSome chapters carry 3-4 questions every year. Those go first.
Mock tests are non-negotiable1 full mock every 2 days. Analysis after each mock matters more than the score.
Accuracy over attemptsAttempting 55 questions with 85% accuracy beats attempting 70 with 60% accuracy.
Sleep is preparation7-8 hours sleep. Your brain consolidates during sleep. Pulling all-nighters destroys exam-day performance.

Physics — Last 15 Days Priority

Physics in JEE Main is formula-heavy and numerical-heavy. The good news: 60% of marks come from 8 chapters.

Must-Revise Chapters (High Weightage + High Scoring)

ChapterExpected QuestionsWhy Prioritise
Mechanics (Laws of Motion, Work-Energy, Rotational)5-6Largest block. Numericals are repetitive.
Electrostatics + Current Electricity4-5Formulaic. PYQ patterns repeat.
Optics (Ray + Wave)2-3Direct formula application. Quick marks.
Modern Physics (Photoelectric, Bohr, Nuclear)2-3NCERT-based. Short, scoring problems.
Magnetism (Moving Charges, Magnetism & Matter)2-3Biot-Savart and Ampere's law problems repeat.
Thermodynamics1-2Short chapter. Process-based questions are predictable.

Skip-If-Short-On-Time Chapters

Mock Test Strategy — The Non-Negotiable

RuleDetails
Frequency1 full mock every 2 days (Day 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13) = 7 mocks in 15 days
Duration3 hours strict. No pausing. No phone. Exam conditions.
After each mockSpend 1.5-2 hours analysing. For every wrong answer: why was it wrong? Silly mistake, concept gap, or time pressure?
Track accuracyMaintain a sheet: Attempted vs Correct per subject per mock. Target: 80%+ accuracy.
Last 3 mocksShould be full NTA-pattern papers (official or coaching institute). Not chapter tests.

Accuracy vs Attempts — The Maths That Matters

ScenarioAttemptedCorrectWrongScore
High attempts, low accuracy7042 (60%)28168 - 28 = 140
Moderate attempts, high accuracy5547 (85%)8188 - 8 = 180
Smart attempts, very high accuracy6054 (90%)6216 - 6 = 210

The lesson: attempting fewer questions with higher accuracy almost always scores better than attempting everything.

Daily Schedule — Last 15 Days

TimeActivity
6:30 AMWake up. Light exercise / walk (15 min).
7:00 AMBreakfast.
7:30 - 10:00 AMSubject 1 — Focused revision + PYQ practice (2.5 hours)
10:00 - 10:15 AMBreak.
10:15 AM - 12:45 PMSubject 2 — Focused revision + PYQ practice (2.5 hours)
12:45 - 2:00 PMLunch + rest.
2:00 - 4:30 PMSubject 3 OR Full Mock Test (2.5 hours)
4:30 - 5:00 PMBreak. Snack. Walk.
5:00 - 6:30 PMMock analysis OR formula revision (1.5 hours)
6:30 - 7:30 PMFree time.
7:30 - 8:00 PMDinner.
8:00 - 9:30 PMLight revision — formula sheets, NCERT Inorganic, weak areas (1.5 hours)
10:00 PMSleep. Non-negotiable.

Total study: 8-9 hours/day. More than this in the last 15 days leads to diminishing returns.

Exam Day Tips — January 22-30

TipWhy
Reach the centre 60 minutes earlyAvoid last-minute panic. Use waiting time to mentally review formulas.
Start with your strongest subjectBuild confidence. If Chemistry is your best, start there.
First pass: attempt only questions you can solve in 2 minutesSkip anything that needs more than 3 minutes. Come back in second pass.
Mark questions for reviewUse the review button. Don't leave anything blank without reviewing.
Don't change answers unless sureFirst instinct is usually correct. Changing answers under pressure leads to errors.
Numerical questions: no negative markingAttempt ALL numerical questions. Even a guess has upside, no downside.
Use the last 15 minutes for reviewCheck marked questions. Verify calculations. Look for silly mistakes.

What If Your Preparation Is Weak

4Coordinate Geometry formulas + 30 PYQs (2 days)3-4 questions = 12-16 marks
5Probability + Statistics (1 day)2 questions = 8 marks
64 full mocks + analysis (4 days)Accuracy improvement = 10-20 marks
Total15 days80-120 marks (enough to qualify)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Can I improve my JEE Main score by 50 marks in 15 days? Yes, if you follow this plan. Most of the improvement comes from two things: (1) revising high-weightage chapters you already know but haven't practised recently, and (2) improving accuracy through mock tests. Students typically leave 20-30 marks on the table due to silly mistakes alone.

Q2. Should I focus on Session 1 or save energy for Session 2? Give Session 1 your full effort. The better score counts, so there is no downside to trying hard now. If Session 1 goes well, great. If not, you have April to improve. But treating Session 1 as "practice" wastes a real opportunity.

Q3. How many PYQs should I solve in these 15 days? At minimum, 150 PYQs total (50 per subject) from the last 3 years. These show you the exact question patterns NTA uses.

Q4. Should I join a crash course or study on my own? In 15 days, self-study with PYQs and mocks is more effective than a crash course. Crash courses add new information when you need to consolidate what you already know. Stick to your notes, formula sheets, and PYQ practice.

Q5. What if I score low in Session 1? Session 1 score is not final. Session 2 (April) gives you another chance, and NTA takes the better of the two. Use Session 1 as a real attempt, then analyse your weaknesses for a targeted Session 2 push. See our Session 1 low score recovery guide for a specific plan.

Q6. Is attempting numerical questions worth it even if I am not sure? Absolutely. Numerical questions have zero negative marking. Even an educated guess is pure upside. Always attempt all 15 numerical questions (5 per subject).
