You have 30 days before your board exam. That is 720 hours. If you study 8 hours a day, that is 240 hours of focused study time. It is enough, but only if you use those hours wisely.
This plan works for CBSE, ICSE, UP Board, Bihar Board, Maharashtra Board, and all other Indian boards. Adjust the subjects to match your syllabus.
The 30-Day Framework
Week 1 (Day 1-7): Complete the Gaps
Most students have 2-3 chapters per subject that they never studied properly. This week is for closing those gaps.
- Day 1: List every chapter across all subjects. Mark each as Strong / Weak / Not Studied.
- Day 2-3: Study the "Not Studied" chapters in your 2 weakest subjects.
- Day 4-5: Study the "Not Studied" chapters in remaining subjects.
- Day 6-7: Solve one previous year paper per subject (without time limit). Identify patterns.
Key rule: Do not re-read chapters you already know well. Focus only on gaps.
Week 2 (Day 8-14): Solve Previous Year Papers
This is the most important week. Past papers tell you exactly what the exam looks like.
- Solve 2 papers per subject (one per day, alternating subjects)
- After each paper, mark every question you got wrong
- Study only the topics where you lost marks
- Make a "mistakes sheet" for each subject - a list of things you keep getting wrong
Key rule: The exam repeats patterns. The same types of questions appear every year with different numbers.
Week 3 (Day 15-21): Targeted Revision
By now you know your weak areas. This week is surgical revision.
- Revise only weak chapters (not the whole syllabus)
- For Maths/Science: re-solve the numerical problems you got wrong in Week 2
- For Social Science/Hindi/English: re-read your notes on topics you scored less in
- Practice writing long answers within the time limit (8-10 minutes per 5-mark question)
Key rule: Revision is not re-reading the textbook. Revision is testing yourself and fixing mistakes.
Week 4 (Day 22-30): Mock Exams and Final Revision
- Day 22-25: Full-length mock exams under real conditions (3 hours, no phone, no breaks)
- Day 26-28: Quick revision of formulas, dates, definitions (use Key Points mode)
- Day 29: Light revision only. No new topics. Rest your brain.
- Day 30: Exam day. Wake up early. Eat well. Trust your preparation.

5 Mistakes That Cost Marks in Board Exams
- Starting with the hardest question: Always start with Section A (MCQs). They warm up your brain and give you 20 easy marks.
- Not reading the question fully: Many students lose marks because they answered what they assumed the question was asking, not what it actually asked.
- Skipping steps in Maths: Even if you can solve it mentally, write every step. Marks are given for steps, not just the answer.
- Writing too much in short answers: A 2-mark question needs 3-4 lines. Writing a paragraph wastes time.
- Leaving questions blank: Write something for every question. Partial marks exist. A blank answer is always zero.
