English Grammar Hindi medium students के लिए सबसे बड़ा challenge है। Tenses, Voice Change, Narration - ये topics सुनने में ही confusing लगते हैं। लेकिन सच यह है कि English Grammar में बहुत limited rules हैं और एक बार समझ आ जाएं तो यह सबसे scoring section बन जाता है।

3 Main Tenses और उनके 4-4 Types

1. Present Tense (वर्तमान काल)

Tenses याद करने की Trick:

  • Simple → V1, V2, will+V1
  • Continuous → is/was/will be + V-ing
  • Perfect → has/had/will have + V3
  • Perfect Continuous → has been/had been/will have been + V-ing

Active-Passive Voice (वाच्य परिवर्तन)

Board exam में 3-5 marks guaranteed।

Basic Rule

Active: Subject + Verb + Object Passive: Object + Helping Verb + V3 + by + Subject

याद करने की Trick:

  • Simple → is/was/will be + V3
  • Continuous → is being/was being + V3
  • Perfect → has been/had been + V3

Direct-Indirect Speech (प्रत्यक्ष-अप्रत्यक्ष कथन)

Basic Rules

  1. Reporting verb past हो तो tense change होता है:

    • Present → Past
    • Past → Past Perfect
    • Will → Would
    • Can → Could
  2. Pronoun change:

    • I → He/She
    • We → They
    • My → His/Her
    • You → context के अनुसार
  3. Time/Place words change:

    • Now → Then
    • Today → That day
    • Tomorrow → The next day
    • Yesterday → The previous day
    • Here → There
    • This → That

Sentence Type-Wise Rules

Statements: Direct: He said, "I am happy." Indirect: He said that he was happy.

Questions: Direct: He said, "Where do you live?" Indirect: He asked where I lived.

Commands/Requests: Direct: He said, "Please help me." Indirect: He requested me to help him.

Exclamations: Direct: He said, "What a beautiful day!" Indirect: He exclaimed that it was a very beautiful day.

Articles (A, An, The)

A/An Rules:

  • A: consonant sound से शुरू होने वाले words (a book, a university)
  • An: vowel sound से शुरू होने वाले words (an apple, an hour)

Trick: Sound देखें, spelling नहीं।

  • "University" - "Yu" sound (consonant) → A university
  • "Hour" - "Ow" sound (vowel) → An hour
  • "Honest" - "O" sound (vowel) → An honest man

The Rules:

  • Unique things: the sun, the moon, the earth
  • Superlatives: the tallest, the best
  • Already mentioned: I saw a dog. The dog was brown.
  • Rivers, oceans: the Ganga, the Pacific
  • Newspapers: the Times of India

Prepositions

सबसे common prepositions और usage:

  • In: months, years, cities, countries (in January, in India)
  • On: days, dates, surfaces (on Monday, on the table)
  • At: time, small places (at 5 PM, at the bus stop)
  • For: duration (for 2 hours)
  • Since: starting point (since 2020)
  • By: deadline/transport (by tomorrow, by bus)
  • With: साथ/tool (with friends, with a pen)
